A dog a day… Annie

Annie is a mellow five year old brown spayed female Labrador Retriever mix who was found without a collar or identification in El Monte on April 8th and brought to the Baldwin Park Shelter.

Weighing seventy-five pounds, Annie walks confidently on leash and is very attentive to her handler. She is gentle with other dogs and we think she will be an outstanding playmate for children.

Annie is an awesome indoor pet and companion for an active family living in a private home.

Annie’s ID number at the shelter is #A4694596.

You can see a video of Annie on YouTubeyou can also find her on the Baldwin Animal Shelter Facebook page.

A dog a day… Dane

Today’s dog is Dane, he’s at the Baldwin Park Shelter.

Dane is a jovial one year old gray and white male Pit Bull puppy who was found in El Monte on March 4th and brought to the Baldwin Park Shelter.

Weighing forty-four pounds, this high energy boy hasn’t had much in the way of training, but he is eager to please and treat motivated so he will learn quickly. Dog friendly, we think he will be at his happiest in a home with children who he can play with.

Dane is a superb indoor pet for an individual or family living in a single-family home.

Dane can be seen on YouTube and on the shelter’s Facebook page.  Dane’s ID# at the shelter is #A4681610.

A dog a day… Sable

Today’s dog is Sable, a puppy that is healing after being hit by a car. She’s located in southern California and needs a rescue – fast!

The Baldwin Park Shelter is asking your urgent help in finding a home or rescue for Sable.

Sable is an adorable and peppy four month old, female Chihuahua who was found in El Monte after  being hit by a car on April 22nd, she was then brought to the Baldwin Park Shelter. She suffered a fractured pelvis and is expected to make a full recovery if she can be given crate rest for a month.

Weighing five pounds, this sweet puppy with the perpetually wagging tail is expected to reach an adult weight of ten pounds. She is good with other dogs, and we expect she will have the typical Chihuahua breed standard disposition of being a “Velcro” dog who will delight in being a lapdog.

The Baldwin park Shelter would like to see Sable rescued and brought to a loving and calm environment where she can receive TLC and love. Sable, once she recovers, will be an outstanding lapdog for anyone in any living situation.

Sable’s ID number at the shelter is A4699425, she also has her own YouTube video.

Please network and share Sable using the hashtag #aDogaDay.

A dog a day… Cookie

Today’s dog is Cookie, and she is in URGENT need of rescue.

Cookie is located in Redding, Ca at the Haven Humane Society.  She is a staff favorite and the shelter is asking for help in finding her a home – quickly.

Sadly, she is not visible to the public for adoption. She sees all the people walking by in the adoption center, she wants to be with them and hurts her feet trying to go through the kennel. She is in the intake area… where no one sees her.

She is loving and very sweet. She needs to be adopted now… she is becoming very urgent.

Cookie (140174) is a 4 year old pocket pitty dog. She is little, only about 35 lbs. She is very easy to handle and knows sit and is rated for an athletic family with children 5 years and older. A proper introduction with any other dogs in the household is required. She gets along with friendly dogs. No cats… she’s not a fan.

You can find her on the Save the Nor-Cal Shelter Dogs page.

She is located at the HAVEN HUMANE SOCIETY in Redding, Ca.

Give them a ring or make visit, ask to see Cookie:

A dog a day… Murphy and Judy have until Friday 5/9/2014

Todays’s dog are a couple of senior pups that need a new home. These two dogs are in the Denver, CO area. They have been our #aDogaDay post before but they are running out of time and the rescue community is trying hard to find them a new home.

The kind folks at The Little Old Dog Sanctuary are are trying to help a woman find homes for her mother-in-law’s dogs (she recently passed away). The son and daughter-in-law live in an apartment and are not allowed to have pets.

The daughter-in-law tells us:

“My mother-in-law passed a few days ago and I’ve been trying to place her two dogs: Judy and Murphy. Judy is a 13/14 year old Shih Tzu and Murphy is a 8/9 Lhasa Apso. They have been together their whole lives and would be better if they are not separated.

They are very friendly, she is adorable and still runs and plays at her old age. Murphy is shy and doesn’t play fetch, but he’s a sweet dog that loves to be close to you and is looking for some care. They are indoor dogs, they don’t like to spend too much time outside. They have some health issues, no records available.  We were only able to afford Rabies shots for them. Hope to find a good heart that can take care of these two senior dogs.”
